
A new law passed by the deputies of the Mazhilis ratifies the protocol related to the agreement between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan regarding checkpoints on the border. According to this document, the checkpoint 'Kegen - Karkyra' will be switched to a 24-hour operational mode. This information has appeared in Kazakh news publications.
After the voting was completed, the bill was sent for consideration to the Senate.
Nurlan Sauranbayev, the Minister of Transport of Kazakhstan, noted that the transition to a round-the-clock operational mode will increase throughput, simplify travel for citizens, and contribute to the development of the tourism industry.
According to statistical data, in 2025, 179,000 people and about 43,000 vehicles crossed the border through the 'Kegen - Karkyra' checkpoint.
