Deputy on citizens who changed their gender: De facto, they exist

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on January 21, Deputy Dastan Jumabekov raised the issue of the possibility of registering citizens who have changed their gender. He referred to an existing draft law concerning the individual accounting of citizens for social insurance purposes.

The deputy provided an example: "Citizens are requesting to change their PIN. If, for instance, a man has become a woman or vice versa, then de facto such people exist, but will they be able to be registered legally?" he explained.

In response to this question, Nursultan Kubanov, the First Deputy Minister of Digital Development and Innovative Technologies, noted that the legislation of Kyrgyzstan does not provide for the possibility of changing gender. According to him, even in a hypothetical sense, this is impossible.

Jumabekov noted that he expected such an answer and that if the ministry had given it earlier, the questions would have been resolved.

"I also want to remind you that according to Article 26 of the Constitution, family is defined as a marriage only between a man and a woman," the deputy added. {lang_tg} {lang_share_buttons}
