In 2026, Kyrgyzstan will need over 182 thousand tons of fertilizers
In Kyrgyzstan, a campaign has been launched for the import of mineral fertilizers aimed at meeting the agricultural needs for the year 2026. The press service of the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic reports that the total demand from farmers in the republic for the current year is 182.8 thousand tons.
The largest share of this volume consists of nitrogen fertilizers — 96.2 thousand tons, which are critically important for conducting spring fieldwork. At the same time, the demand for phosphorus fertilizers is 71.5 thousand tons, and for potassium fertilizers — 15.2 thousand tons.
As of January 20, 21.5 thousand tons of fertilizers have already been imported into the country. Currently, private companies engaged in the sale of fertilizers across the country have accumulated 19.2 thousand tons in their warehouses, allowing preparations for the agro-technical season to begin.
One of the significant innovations this year has been the strengthening of control over supplies. In accordance with the order of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine, mandatory accounting for the import of mineral fertilizers through border phytosanitary control points was introduced at the end of December last year. Now, all products entering the country by both road and rail transport undergo strict registration. This will allow authorities to monitor the market situation in real-time and prevent shortages in key regions of the country.
