The area around the landfill in Bishkek is planned to be developed as an industrial zone.

In a recent podcast organized by the "Kabar" agency, the mayor of the capital, Aibek Junushaliev, discussed the situation with residential developments located near the landfill.
He noted that currently these settlements are considered illegal and do not fall under the land amnesty program due to their location in the sanitary protection zone.
“If the sanitary zone is reduced, it will create opportunities for the legalization of housing. Nevertheless, the city administration insists on transforming this area into a full-fledged industrial zone,” he added.
Junushaliev also emphasized that if the "mountain of garbage" is completely eliminated, conditions suitable for living in this area may arise in the future.
