Electricity Imports in Kyrgyzstan Will Continue in 2026
To eliminate the deficit, imports from other countries will be required
At today's meeting of the parliamentary committee, Deputy Minister of Energy Altynbek Rysbekov confirmed that Kyrgyzstan will continue to import electricity in 2026.
He noted that the country is experiencing an electricity deficit of approximately 4.5 billion kWh.
According to Rysbekov, "Kyrgyzstan produces 14.5 billion kWh of electricity annually. With increasing consumption, we covered the shortfall last year through imports, which amounted to 4.3 billion kWh. This year, we also plan to continue imports. Electricity for the population will be sold at a social tariff, and the difference will be borne by NESK," he added.
