The Cabinet will continue to import electricity in 2026 to cover its deficit
He noted that Kyrgyzstan produces an average of 14.5 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity per year.
"Currently, the deficit is approximately 4.5 billion kilowatt-hours. In 2025, we compensated for it through imports, which amounted to 4.3 billion kilowatt-hours from neighboring countries. At the same time, electricity is sold to the population at a social tariff, and the difference in prices falls on NESK. The import of electricity will continue this year," Rysbekov added.
In order to reduce the deficit, steps are also being taken to develop renewable energy sources. "We strive to create favorable conditions for attracting investments. At the moment, we are seeing interest from many investors. The construction of solar and wind power plants takes up to two years, which will allow for a rapid increase in energy production. Therefore, the development of renewable energy remains our priority," the Deputy Minister emphasized.
