In 2025, more than 8,000 traffic accidents were registered in Kyrgyzstan, - State Traffic Safety Department

In Kyrgyzstan, over 8,000 road traffic accidents were recorded in 2025. The press service of the Main Department for Ensuring Road Safety of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported this on January 19, summarizing the operational and service activities of the past year.
The main factors contributing to accidents include speeding, improper maneuvering, crossing into oncoming traffic while overtaking, driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as violations of rules at intersections and ignoring traffic signs and necessary distances.
The meeting, which was attended by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs Oktay Urmambetov, Head of the Internal Investigations Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Ulan Biibosunov, and Head of the Main Department for Road Safety Azhenbek Kozukeiev, also gathered leaders of the Main Department for Road Safety at the regional, city, and district levels.
During the event, they discussed what achievements were made and what shortcomings remained in the work over the past year. Meeting participants emphasized the importance of updating approaches in planning activities, calling for the avoidance of outdated schemes and adaptation to modern requirements.
"Traffic inspectors are always under the close scrutiny of society, so the emphasis was placed on the need to improve service delivery and activate operational activities. It was also instructed to pay more attention to digitalization and establish cooperation with local authorities," the message stated.
Additionally, meeting participants noted that it is necessary to strengthen control over the issuance of licenses to taxi drivers and take additional measures to prevent road traffic accidents.
As a result of the discussion, it was decided to address the identified shortcomings in service activities, and disciplinary measures were applied to some employees.
