In Naryn, a grandmother secured inheritance for her grandchildren with the support of the ombudsman

With the help of the Ombudsman Institute of the Kyrgyz Republic, two minor orphans from Naryn were able to obtain a certificate for their mother's inheritance. This allowed them to register a land plot of 58 hundredths.

Retiree K.G. turned to the ombudsman in the Naryn region after learning about her guardianship rights over her grandchildren, aged 14 and 15, following the death of her son and former daughter-in-law. She decided to secure the inheritance for the children, as the plot was registered in their mother's name.

However, the deceased's relatives began to contest the right to the plot and did not provide the necessary documents. The institute's staff explained to the grandmother how to proceed in court and helped gather all the required documents. Additionally, upon the ombudsman's recommendation, she was provided with a free lawyer from the Legal Aid Service. A request to the regional branch of the State Agency for Land Resources confirmed the existence of the plot in question.

After filing a lawsuit, the opposing party agreed to a settlement.
