A resident of Ak-Tala, herding sheep, chased a wolf on horseback and shot it.
Esenkhanov was at the Tuyuk-Koo pasture when he noticed the wolf sneaking up on his herd. Without hesitation, he jumped on his horse and chased after the predator, ultimately managing to shoot it.
"This winter, I have already shot two wolves. Last year in the village of Bayetov, hunters who killed wolves were rewarded. I heard that our village is also planning such a practice, but specific timelines are still unknown," Esenkhanov shared.
According to the shepherd, the situation in the Terek area is relatively calm, and there are no problems with predators. However, in neighboring areas such as Kara-Suu and Maistan, the situation is much more complicated. Hunters gather at the invitation of local residents to hunt wolves. On the day of the incident, January 16, shepherds reported a wolf roaming at the foot of the hill. Esenkhanov quickly blocked the predator's path and, pouncing on it, shot it. "It was quite a large wolf," he added.
