In the Issyk-Kul Region, the number of pheasants is increasing

The Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision reports positive results from wildlife protection activities in the Issyk-Kul region.

According to the agency's data, there has been an increase in the population of various species of animals and birds in recent years, particularly the pheasant population, which had previously seen a significant decline, is beginning to recover.

"In winter, pheasants face the greatest difficulties. The reduction of their natural food sources makes them dependent on supplemental feeding. Therefore, the Ak-Suu District Department of the Issyk-Kul Regional Office of the ministry has organized feeding for these birds in their habitats. The local hunting community also supports this initiative," the statement says.

Additionally, measures to combat illegal hunting are being strengthened, and the responsibility for damage caused to wildlife is being tightened. Specialists note that the main enemies of pheasants are predators, and relevant activities are also being carried out in this direction.

According to the results of the autumn count, about 1,200 pheasants were recorded in the Ak-Suu District, which is a positive indicator compared to previous years. Wildlife and bird protection activities will continue.
