The court denied journalist Bayan Jumagulova permission to travel abroad for treatment
In Bishkek, the Sverdlovsk District Court rejected the application of well-known journalist Bayan Jumagulova for permission to travel to Germany for medical treatment. Bayan herself reported this in an interview with "Azattyk".

“I have a II group disability and underwent a kidney transplant several years ago. I previously lived in Germany and received treatment there. I have another surgery scheduled for February 2026, so I approached the court with a request for permission to leave. Despite having medical documents from Germany and conclusions from local doctors, Judge Almaz Jumagulov denied my request,” the journalist shared.

She also noted that during the announcement of the court's decision, she felt unwell and lost consciousness. Relatives helped Bayan get to the National Hospital, where she received first aid, after which she was able to return home.
According to Bayan, the court, in its brief comment to "Azattyk," indicated that the charge against her falls into the category of less serious crimes, which was also taken into account when making the decision.

In 2024, a criminal case was initiated against Bayan Jumagulova under an article concerning incitement of racial, ethnic, or religious hatred. As a result, the court decided to prohibit her from leaving her place of residence as a preventive measure, which involves signing a travel ban.

The court proceedings in the journalist's case have been ongoing in the district court for over a year and a half for various reasons.

Bayan Jumagulova, who is now 67 years old, is a II group disabled person and has experience working at "Azattyk" until her retirement.
