In the CIS countries, a mechanism for mutual recognition and enforcement of court orders regarding the collection of alimony for minor children will be introduced. This is reported by the publication "Vedomosti" in its article.

The State Duma of Russia has approved amendments concerning the ratification of two conventions on legal assistance: the Minsk Convention (1993) and the Chisinau Convention (2002). These documents were proposed for parliamentary consideration by President Vladimir Putin in early January.

Now, the alimony claimant will be able to file a petition in court for the recognition and enforcement of the corresponding court order. It will be necessary to provide confirmation that the order has come into legal force and is subject to enforcement, if this is not specified in the order itself. A copy of the court act confirming its delivery or sending to the debtor will also be required. All documents must be translated and certified into Russian or into the language of the country where the application is submitted.
