On Kurmanjan Datka Street in Osh, more than 200 Tian Shan fir trees are being transplanted
According to the information provided, more than 200 seedlings of coniferous trees are being dug up and moved to the nursery of the local municipal landscaping enterprise. The work is being carried out on the section between Kurmanjan Datka and Asrankulova Streets, starting from the intersection with Alisher Navoi Street. The Osh city administration reports that the firs are being transplanted with their roots during the winter period.
“These seedlings will be moved to the nursery, where we will continue to care for them. In winter, deciduous trees are in a state of 'dormancy,' so this is the optimal time for transplanting with the root system. In the future, we plan to replant them in suitable locations in the city, while previously planted maples and acacias will remain in their places,” commented the city administration.
Furthermore, if there is a need to plant more valuable plants, it is planned to import them from neighboring countries. Currently, negotiations are underway with potential sponsors on this matter.
It is worth noting that in early 2025, old plane trees and other trees were cut down on Kurmanjan Datka Street. In March of the same year, 100 seedlings of red-leaved maples were planted in the area from Alisher Navoi Street to Gapar Aitieva Street, with each costing $215.
Six months later, on September 25, 2025, at the XIV session of the Osh City Council, Mayor Jenishbek Toktorbaev highlighted the need to transplant the seedlings planted on Kurmanjan Datka Street. He noted that red-leaved maples cannot withstand the heat from the sidewalks, which leads to their leaves drying out.
“On Kurmanjan Datka Street, we planted red-leaved maples. However, this type of tree grows better near water bodies. Due to the heat from the sidewalks, there are cases where the leaves dry out. If you give your consent, we will transplant the firs and maples from this street to another location,” added the mayor.
It is noteworthy that the mayor previously participated in tree planting and assured journalists that the seedlings were brought with a root ball and would “take root 100 percent.” He also mentioned that he planted maples in Jalal-Abad, emphasizing that this type is suitable for the climate of the city of Osh.
