According to the city administration, the current tree removal involves trees that are no longer viable, and work is underway to update the irrigation ditches.
The director of the municipal enterprise "Greening and Landscaping of the City of Osh," Azamat Sovetbek uulu, noted that the cutting affected the area from Orozbek Akimbaev Street (where the A. Suyumbaev Stadium is located) to the Babur Theater.
“We have removed about 500 trees that were growing on both sides of the ditch — between the paved road and the irrigation channel, as well as along the road. Additionally, trees near the S. Ibraimov Drama Theater and on the street in front of the "Osh Nuru" hotel were also removed,” he added.
Last year, the ecology department granted permission for the removal of old and hazardous trees, and the Osh City Council also approved the cutting down of 1,870 trees in the area from Vakhapov Street to Alisher Navoi Street.
