

In Bishkek, high-profile officials have been detained in a corruption case, including the former vice mayor and several heads of contracting organizations. According to the press service of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), it all began with an investigation related to the allocation of 22 million euros in 2015 for the improvement of the mayor's office infrastructure. These funds were intended for the purchase of special equipment, such as bulldozers and garbage trucks, as well as for the design and construction of landfills for the municipal enterprise "Tazalyk" and the municipal enterprise "Bishkek Sanitary Landfill."
An audit revealed that the preliminary damage to the budget amounted to about 182 million soms due to the misuse of allocated funds.
On January 12, according to the materials of the criminal case under Article 336 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (corruption), investigative actions were carried out, during which former vice mayor S.R.A., former director of the municipal enterprise "Bishkek Sanitary Landfill" A.A.Zh., and heads of contracting organizations I.V.R. and A.N.B. were detained.
By the decision of the investigative authorities, they have been placed in the temporary detention facility of the GKNB.
