In 2026, 17.6 million fry will be released into the Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul lakes.

In 2026, the release of 17.6 million fry into the lakes Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul is planned, of which 14.1 million will be directed to Issyk-Kul and 3.5 million to Son-Kul. This was reported by Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy department of the President of Kyrgyzstan, on social media.

He noted that measures to clean Issyk-Kul from fishing nets continue under the personal control of the country's president.

“During this time, many tons of nets have been removed. Strict measures are being taken against those who use electric shock to catch fish and throw nets into the lake. The positive results of these actions are already beginning to show — videos of small fish swimming near the shores of Issyk-Kul are being published,” he added.

According to the president's decree, a moratorium on fishing has been introduced in Issyk-Kul and Son-Kul. This decision contributes to active efforts to restore the ecosystems of the lakes. In 2025, 13.6 million fry were released into Issyk-Kul, and 5.6 million into Son-Kul,” concluded Daiyrbek Orunbekov.
