The Cabinet proposes to change the rules for forming the social package for digital TV

The Cabinet of Ministers has initiated a public discussion of a new draft resolution, which proposes a review of a number of existing government decisions related to the social packages of television channels for terrestrial digital broadcasting.

The draft includes amendments to the resolution dated March 4, 2022, No. 111, which approved the Social Package of television channels for terrestrial digital broadcasting in the Kyrgyz Republic. In particular, it is proposed to cancel the first point of this document and determine that the formation of the social package will be carried out by the Antimonopoly Regulation Service in cooperation with the authorized state body in the field of information.

Additionally, the amendments concern the government resolution dated June 23, 2014, No. 349, which outlines the Regulations for the formation of the Social Package of television and radio channels. The draft proposes to exclude mentions of sports channels from the document, cancel the competitive conditions for including private television and radio companies in the social package, and grant the authorized body the right to include channels without conducting a competition.

It is also proposed to cancel a number of norms related to the deadlines and procedures for considering applications from broadcasting organizations.

The aim of this project is to ensure the population has access to information, and it has been posted for public discussion in accordance with established procedures.
