Manti for 400 soms – service fees in the KR were "hidden," prices have increased
Visitors to cafes and restaurants in Kyrgyzstan were shocked by the new prices
Since the beginning of 2026, a new government decree has come into effect in Kyrgyzstan, prohibiting catering establishments from charging customers service fees.
According to the updated rules, the usual 10-15% for service cannot be added to the cost of an order, prompting cafes and restaurants to include these amounts in the price of dishes. As a result, prices for popular items have significantly increased, which social media users in the country are actively discussing.
For example, a serving of manti now costs 400 soms (up from the previous 200-250 soms), flaky samsa has risen to 100 soms (previously 75-85 soms), and a teapot of tea can be purchased for 150-400 soms (previously 100-250 soms).
