Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia will start exchanging prisoners
During the meeting, she presented a draft law on cooperation in the field of extradition, which was signed on July 21 of last year during the visit of the President of Mongolia to Kyrgyzstan.
The Deputy Attorney General noted that about 50 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic reside in Mongolia; however, there are no Kyrgyz nationals among the prisoners in that country.
“Despite the fact that criminal cases have been initiated, citizens have not been held accountable due to the absence of elements of a crime. However, there have been cases of violations of migration legislation, which led to the deportation of Kyrgyz nationals,” she added.
In connection with the presence of convicted citizens of Mongolia in Kyrgyzstan and incoming requests from that country for extradition, Umutkan Konkubaeva emphasized the need to create a legal framework for the exchange of prisoners between the two states.
After the discussion, the deputies approved the draft law on the ratification of the agreement in the first reading.
