Amnesty. Over 2,000 convicts released from prisons in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan, more than 2,000 convicted individuals have been granted freedom as part of an amnesty announced by the committee of the penal enforcement system of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the country.
This amnesty was timed to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since the beginning of last year, 15,970 applications from convicts have been reviewed. As a result, more than 2,000 people, including women and minors, have been released, and 11,000 convicts have had their sentences reduced. Additionally, 2,888 individuals on probation have been released from further punishment, and more than 7,600 have received sentence reductions.
It is important to note that this amnesty does not apply to crimes related to corruption, extremism, terrorism, as well as crimes against children, torture, and recidivism.
