Bishkek Ranks Again Among the Top 3 Most Polluted Cities in the World

According to the latest data from the international monitoring platform IQAir, Bishkek ranks third among the largest cities in the world with the worst air quality, having an AQI index of 281.

This level is considered "very unhealthy." Currently, only Lahore (Pakistan) with an index of 398 and Cairo (Egypt) with a score of 384 have more serious air quality issues, which are classified as "hazardous to health."

Medical professionals warn that high levels of pollution can significantly threaten public health. Those at risk include:

children and the elderly;

individuals suffering from chronic respiratory diseases (such as asthma and bronchitis);

people with cardiovascular diseases.

Experts recommend that city residents: during periods of maximum pollution, keep windows closed, minimize outdoor physical activity, and use protective masks (FFP2/N95 standard) when going outside.
