Bishkek Again in the Top 5 Most Polluted Cities in the World for Air Quality

According to the latest data from international air quality monitoring, Bishkek has once again made it to the list of the five most polluted megacities in the world. This time, the capital of Kyrgyzstan was rated 4th in the air quality index (AQI), which amounted to 236, corresponding to a level that is "very harmful to health."

Currently, the top 5 cities with the worst air quality are as follows:
Cairo (Egypt) — AQI 369.
Delhi (India) — AQI 256.
Lahore (Pakistan) — AQI 254.
Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) — AQI 236.
Dhaka (Bangladesh) — AQI 213.

Experts emphasize that such a high level of pollution can pose a serious threat to the health of residents, especially for children, the elderly, and individuals with chronic respiratory and cardiovascular diseases.

In this regard, residents of the capital are strongly advised to limit their time spent outdoors and to use protective masks whenever possible.
