On March 19, 2026, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic between Minister Damir Osmonov and Chinese Ambassador Liu Jiangping. According to the ministry's press service, the discussion focused on the state and possibilities for further cooperation in the field of healthcare between the two countries.
Minister Osmonov thanked the Chinese side for organizing the meeting and noted that bilateral relations are based on the principles of respect, good neighborliness, and strategic partnership.
The parties emphasized that cooperation in the healthcare sector is carried out in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Health of Kyrgyzstan and the National Health Commission of China, as well as within the framework of regular meetings of the intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
Damir Osmonov highlighted the significant contribution of China to the development of healthcare in Kyrgyzstan, including humanitarian aid, the supply of medical equipment and medicines, as well as educational programs and internships for Kyrgyz specialists in medical institutions in China.
During the meeting, the Chinese side presented several initiatives aimed at deepening practical cooperation. Plans were discussed for the implementation of the "Express Health - Bright Journey" project, which includes free surgeries for patients with cataracts, as well as programs to assist children with congenital heart defects.
The parties also discussed the possibility of cooperation with the People's Hospital of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, including the organization of mutual visits and the creation of joint medical projects, such as a joint hospital.
Particular attention was paid to the establishment of a Kyrgyz-Chinese research center for traditional medicine and the development of partnerships in the field of pharmaceuticals and the use of medicinal plants.
At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further strengthen cooperation aimed at developing medical infrastructure, improving the quality of medical services, and ensuring access for the population to modern medical services.
