The Minister of Health inspected the under-construction maternity hospital and dormitory for medical staff in Kemin
Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic Damir Osmonov, during his working trip, visited the Center for General Medical Practice in the Kemin District, located in the Chui Region. He familiarized himself with the state of the medical infrastructure and the progress of construction of new facilities, as well as assessed the institution's equipment with modern medical devices. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Health of the KR.
During the visit, the minister inspected the construction of a new maternity hospital, which will accommodate 50 beds. The building will be four stories with a total area of 2,220 square meters. Currently, construction is actively ongoing, and the building has already reached the third floor, where work is underway on the installation of monolithic structures.
The first floor of the new maternity hospital will include reception and gynecological departments, offices for ultrasound diagnostics and colposcopy, as well as a discharge block. The second floor will house the operating block and two delivery rooms, while the third floor will contain the newborn pathology department and the gynecological department with separate sanitary facilities. It is also planned to equip the maternity hospital with modern medical equipment and necessary technology.
In addition, the minister reviewed a project for the creation of a dormitory for medical workers. The former infectious disease department will be converted into a residential dormitory, including 8 apartments with necessary amenities. Funding is provided by the Kemin District Development Fund, and the project cost is about 18 million soms. The building area is 1,450 square meters. This initiative aims to improve living conditions for medical workers and address the shortage of personnel.
During the visit, the minister also visited the clinical diagnostic laboratory of the Center for General Medical Practice, which is equipped with modern devices purchased through cooperation with JICA. The laboratory has biochemical and hematological analyzers, as well as hormone determination devices and centrifuges. All analyses are integrated into a digital system: results are automatically uploaded to the "ILab" system and displayed in the electronic outpatient card of the patient in the "Sanarip clinic" system.
The minister also visited the radiology room, where both stationary and mobile digital X-ray machines are used, and familiarized himself with the work of the intensive care unit. It was noted that this unit is equipped with two artificial ventilation machines provided by JICA, as well as bedside monitors purchased with the institution's funds.
During the meeting with the leadership of the Center for General Medical Practice, relevant issues were raised, particularly the shortage of medical personnel. Currently, measures are being taken to improve the conditions for attracting specialists, including the construction of a dormitory for healthcare workers.
In addition, the minister inspected the building of the old maternity hospital, where the option of major repairs was previously considered. About 100 million soms were allocated for this purpose. Following the inspection, the minister instructed to conduct further research on the condition of the building and the feasibility of repairs.
