A Sedentary Lifestyle Poses a Threat to the Spine Even for Young People — Doctor's Advice
According to neurologist-vertebrologist Andrey Ratinoff on the air of Birinchi Radio, one of the main reasons for spine problems is a lack of physical activity. Previously, such complaints were mainly made by people over 40, but currently about 15–20% of all inquiries come from young people and teenagers under 25.
The doctor emphasized the importance of morning warm-ups: “Regular exercises, even for 20–30 minutes, whether it’s a walk before work or a light warm-up, significantly improve well-being. Those who pay attention to this feel much healthier,” he noted.
Ratinoff also highlighted the need to maintain physical activity in children from an early age. Parents should limit the time spent watching cartoons, as, although they distract children, the importance of movement cannot be ignored. “Minimal physical activity helps maintain spinal health,” the specialist added.
In addition, he recommended consulting professional massage therapists when necessary. Massage helps work out muscles, evenly distribute load, and relax tense areas, which is especially important for the proper formation of movements in children.
In the modern world, it's hard to do without a phone, but its use can lead to neck problems. The doctor advises monitoring proper posture while working with the device, taking breaks, and limiting screen time.
