In Kyrgyzstan, over 84 thousand children were screened for congenital diseases in 2025

In 2025, a screening for the diagnosis of congenital diseases was conducted in Kyrgyzstan for more than 84 thousand newborns.
According to information from the Ministry of Health, this year the following was carried out:

- 84,216 tests for congenital hypothyroidism, with this diagnosis identified in 10 children,

- 60,753 examinations for adrenal genital syndrome, with 2 cases identified,

- 49,713 tests for phenylketonuria, with this condition found in 3 children.

A total of 194,682 tests were conducted.

Early diagnosis allows for timely treatment to begin, which helps maintain the health of the child from the very first days of life.

Additionally, work continues in the country to improve the neonatal screening system, with protocols being updated and all processes being digitized.
