On February 26, another kidney transplant operation was performed for free at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health (NCMCH) in Bishkek.
Currently, approximately 200 patients suffering from stage 5 chronic kidney disease are on the waiting list.
According to the Ministry of Health, the operation was performed on a patient born in 1981, who had been undergoing chronic hemodialysis treatment since 2018. The donor was his brother, born in 1978. Both patients are in stable condition and under medical supervision.
Kidney transplants at NCMCH have been conducted since 2018. Since the beginning of the program, 81 transplants have been performed, 38 of which were funded by the state budget.
The center has implemented a methodology for immunological testing, including the determination of histocompatibility using the HLA system, crossmatching, and calculating the PRA index, which enhances the safety of operations and improves long-term treatment outcomes.
The medical team at NCMCH is ready to provide consultations and preparation for patients who may need surgery in the future.
