A report on the significant decrease in hepatitis B incidence among children was announced on February 24 by Deputy Minister of Health Bakytbek Kadyraliev at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee dedicated to labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues.

He noted that this achievement is one of the most striking examples of successful preventive policy in the country.

Since 2002, vaccination against hepatitis B has been included in the National Calendar of Preventive Vaccinations. All expenses for vaccinating newborns are covered by the state budget, while vaccinations for children under one year are carried out in cooperation with the Global Alliance for Vaccines and Immunization.

Since 2022, the vaccination process for the adult population has begun. As part of a pilot project, 350,000 doses of vaccine and 140,000 rapid tests were purchased with the support of Rospotrebnadzor. The project started in Chui region and the capital Bishkek, after which its geography was expanded to other regions.

As of February 1, 2026:

1 dose of the vaccine was received by 323,638 people;

2 doses — 271,182 people (83.8%);

3 doses — 195,092 people (73.6%).

These measures have significantly increased the level of herd immunity among the adult population, he added.
