The Director of the National Center for Oncology and Hematology, Nurbek Bukuev, reported that over 35,000 people are registered at the institution. This information was announced in the program "Elden Sobol" by the agency "Kabar".
He added that up to 6,500 new cases of the disease are recorded annually. Unfortunately, almost half of these patients die within the first year after diagnosis.
“The main reason for the high mortality rate is the delayed appeal to doctors. Many patients are unaware of the presence of cancer or do not undergo the necessary examinations, which leads to the progression of the disease. Currently, four stages of the disease are identified, and more than 50% of patients come for consultation already at stages 3-4, when the disease is in an advanced form. Therefore, most of them do not survive to the end of the first year after diagnosis. This kind of statistics is observed not only in Kyrgyzstan but also around the world. According to global data, about 600,000 new cases of cancer are recorded annually, of which approximately 350,000 patients die within the first year,” noted Nurbek Bukuev.
