Increase in Maternal Mortality in Kyrgyzstan. The Minister of Health called the situation a "serious signal" and instructed to take action.
This year, 48 cases of maternal mortality have been recorded, corresponding to a rate of 34.8 per 100,000 live births. This is 35.4% higher than last year's figures, when 36 cases were registered (25.7 per 100,000).
During a collegium reviewing the results of the work for 2025, the minister characterized the increase in maternal mortality as a "serious signal" that requires prompt managerial decisions. He instructed specialists to prepare a comprehensive set of necessary measures within a week.
The minister noted that it is necessary to revise the standards of antenatal care, focusing on quality. An important aspect will also be the digital integration of primary care with hospitals and clear routing of pregnant women, especially those from high-risk groups. Additionally, it is important to strengthen telemedicine consultations and implement prenatal screening, as indicated in the report.
