FOMS: The processing time for mandatory health insurance takes at least five days

At a recent meeting of the committee on labor, health care, women's affairs, and social issues, Deputy Zhyldyz Egemberdieva reported that the process of obtaining mandatory health insurance (MHI) will take at least five days for citizens who do not have it.

The deputy raised the issue of the possibility of reducing this timeframe and addressed the director of FOMS.

“If a person needs urgent inpatient treatment but does not have MHI, they will be left waiting for five days, which could worsen their health. Is there a possibility to obtain MHI in one day?” she inquired.

In response, the head of FOMS Azamat Mukhanov noted that the processing times were significantly longer in the past.

“Currently, the minimum period is five days. First, the funds are deposited in the bank, then the next day they are transferred to us, and we begin processing. Moreover, it is important to remember the insurance principle: one should take care of their health in advance. If planned treatment is required, it is necessary to consider insurance five days before the procedure,” he emphasized.
