Importing medicines to Kyrgyzstan has become difficult, - deputy
He emphasized that, despite the EAEU's efforts to simplify trade between countries, changes in tariffs have made the process of importing medicines much more complicated. People with rare and oncological diseases are particularly suffering, often asking acquaintances to bring the necessary medications from Turkey or Russia.
“When the cost of medicines exceeds 200 euros, customs services begin to delay packages, requiring their customs clearance. Previously, the limit was 500 euros, but it has been reduced to 200. How can we solve this problem?” the deputy questioned.
In response, Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Sultan Akhmatov noted that import tariffs depend on the economic situation in each republic. “If certain needs arise, we can apply for a quota on the necessary products,” he explained and added that he would consider the issue raised by the deputy.
Dastan Bekeshev also pointed out that EAEU restrictions negatively affect people who need expensive medications. “We are essentially fighting not against smuggling, but against the needs of sick people,” he stated.
Sultan Akhmatov agreed with this position, adding that the reason for lowering the threshold to 200 euros is that most medications are purchased online.
