Since the introduction of the moratorium on fishing in the Issyk-Kul region, there has been a significant increase in small fish farms.

Some entrepreneurs are just beginning to explore this business, while others, like Meerbek Kurmanbek uulu, have already achieved success. He has been engaged in breeding various species of trout and managing his fish farming business for over 15 years.

The founder of the largest fish farm in the region, Meerbek Kurmanbek uulu, transformed 1 hectare of land at the foot of the mountains in the village of Chon-Oruktu into a modern fish farming enterprise and recreation area. Starting with 15,000 fish, his business has now increased tenfold, and today 50–60 tons of fish are grown here annually, of which 25–30 tons are sold, while the remaining part is used for further development.

The farm breeds two types of trout: rainbow and golden, with the latter particularly attracting visitors' interest. Meerbek imported golden trout eggs from the USA and raised the fry in his incubation workshop. Since then, this species has become an exclusive product of his business.

According to Meerbek, the fish farming process requires a lot of effort. Success depends on the conditions of maintenance, the cleanliness and temperature of the water, as well as the quality of the feed. Failure to meet these conditions can lead to losses. He also emphasizes the importance of government support for entrepreneurs in this field.

Natural, cold, and clean water flowing from the mountains creates ideal conditions for trout growth, enhancing its taste and value. During the peak summer season, the farm attracts 1,500 to 2,000 tourists daily, who can observe the fish, catch them, and order dishes made from fresh fish. However, due to high domestic demand, external sales have been temporarily suspended.

Out of the 15 years of the enterprise's operation, about 7–8 years were spent on its full establishment. During this time, valuable experience has been accumulated, infrastructure has been improved, and production volumes have reached their current level. Currently, the farm employs 20 permanent workers, and this number increases to 40–50 people during the summer season.
