Rinat Ümötaliev, a 59-year-old resident of the village of Dolon in the Tyup district, has been engaged in fish farming for five years.

In an interview with a Turmush journalist, he shared that he dedicated over 30 years to working in the field of education.

Rinat chose the profession of a teacher, following in his father's footsteps.

“I was born in 1966 in a large family of 9, where I am the youngest son. My father headed the school in the village of Dolon for 29 years, and after his departure, the school was named after him. My childhood was spent in this village. After finishing school, I enrolled in an educational institution in Bishkek, where I received a diploma as a physical education teacher. I initially worked for 15 years in Tokmok and the capital, and then returned to help my parents. During this time, I got a job at a school where I taught physical education and pre-conscription training. As I approached retirement, I decided to change my line of work and focus on developing tourism in my native village,” he noted.
In the summer, Rinat raises fish in a pond, and in the winter, he creates conditions for local residents to relax. In 2026, he plans to open a 200-meter-long winter slide and is currently conducting an experiment.

“I have been renting a pond that belongs to the Ministry of Agriculture for five to six years. I have developed about 3 hectares and am engaged in fish farming. The main task is to protect the ecology and maintain cleanliness. I have signed an agreement with an incubator, and every year, fry of six species are released into the pond. When they reach maturity, their weight ranges from 500 grams to 3 kilograms. So far, I have not established mass catching and selling — it is more for fishing enthusiasts: a fee is charged per person for one day. Local residents and tourists come to fish and relax.

In winter, the pond freezes, and the ice thickness reaches 90 cm to 1 meter. In such conditions, we created an ice rink 30–60 meters long, where skating enthusiasts now enjoy themselves.

Also, since the beginning of this year, we have laid a road to the hill next to the pond to open a 200-meter-long sledding track. We have already brought about 10 sleds and are conducting experiments. All safety measures are observed on the track. If tourism develops, this place could become a year-round recreation area,” he adds.

Rinat Ümötaliev is married and has two daughters with his wife, as well as one more daughter and two grandsons.
