At a meeting of the committee on judicial and legal issues in the Jogorku Kenesh, Prosecutor General Maksat Asanaliev reported that in 2025, 80 citizens of Kyrgyzstan were extradited to their homeland. This became possible due to the submission of 143 extradition requests during the reporting period, significantly exceeding the 97 requests in 2024.

The Prosecutor General also noted that currently, 1,423 Kyrgyz citizens are serving sentences abroad, of which 1,126 are in Russia. Among them, 753 have expressed a desire to return to their homeland.

Out of 13 citizens, extradition was denied by Russian courts, 160 cases were rejected by the Kyrgyz side due to legislative restrictions, and 65 individuals themselves refused the transfer (the possibility of reapplying remains). Since the beginning of 2023, there has been an increase in the number of extradited citizens, with this year's total reaching 232, which is a significant increase compared to 74 in 2023 and 117 in 2024. Most of the extradited came from Russia, with also cases from Kazakhstan (4) and China (1). Currently, work is ongoing to transfer another 580 citizens, Asanaliev added.

Additionally, at the request of other countries, 74 foreign citizens detained on the territory of Kyrgyzstan have been handed over for criminal prosecution, which also represents an increase compared to 54 cases in 2024.
