At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on April 2, Marlen Mamataliyev revealed some facts about the letter signed by 75 elders.

He noted that the issue of the letter is still actively discussed in society, and journalists are interested in the opinions of the deputies. In this regard, the speaker decided to clarify the situation.

“From the first day of my tenure, we began an investigation into the whereabouts of this letter. It has been established that it was immediately sent to the committee on constitutional legislation. Soon, a decision was made to create an internal commission to find out how the letter reached the Jogorku Kenesh and how it was transmitted to the committee. The results of the inspection have already been forwarded to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, where further investigation is ongoing.

In fact, this letter was expected in the Jogorku Kenesh even before its official arrival.

The person who delivered the letter… As is known, according to established procedures, letters must be received in a certain manner if they are addressed to a deputy or the speaker. However, it was handed over by a messenger, directly into the hands of the speaker's closest advisors. After that, instructions were given, and the letter became a subject of consideration in the committee. We cannot assert that anyone is responsible or guilty. We have only clarified the mechanism of how the appeal reached the committee, and further actions will be carried out by the investigation,” Mamataliyev commented.

Recall that on February 9, it became known that 75 individuals appealed to President Sadyr Japarov and Speaker Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu with a request to hold early presidential elections in Kyrgyzstan. Following this, President Sadyr Japarov dismissed Kamchybek Tashiev from the position of Deputy Prime Minister and initiated the reorganization of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB). After his dismissal, several high-ranking officials from his circle were also fired. In light of this scandal, Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu also resigned and left his deputy position.

Sadyr Japarov stated that Tashiev did not meet with the signatories. Nevertheless, the president noted that he will no longer hold government positions.

The Constitutional Court, having considered the appeal from Sadyr Japarov, confirmed that presidential elections must be held within the legally established timeframe - in January 2027.

In addition, a criminal case has been initiated, and several signatories of the "letter of 75" have been placed in pre-trial detention on charges of organizing mass riots in the country.
