He noted that without significant reforms from the Ministry of Finance and the allocation of at least $1 billion for the construction of kindergartens, the situation will not change.
“Approving $6 million is just laughable on a national scale. We are merely 'spreading' this money: one kindergarten in each city. This does not solve the problem. We need to approach the Ministry of Finance for larger sums,” Bekeshev added.
The discussed funding pertains to the project "Education for the Future." According to the document, Kyrgyzstan will receive a loan from the International Development Association in the amount of $4 million 360 thousand and a grant of $2 million. The agreement was signed in Washington in October 2025.
As of today, the coverage of preschool education for children aged 3 to 5 years is only 51%. The relevant agency has set the goal of increasing this figure to 80% by 2030.
