
35-year-old Balendra Shah, who previously served as the mayor of Kathmandu and was a well-known rapper, has been appointed as the Prime Minister of Nepal. He has become the youngest person in the history of the country to hold this position, as well as the first prime minister from the Madhesi community, notes Reuters.
The inauguration ceremony took place at the presidential palace with the participation of diplomats and high-ranking officials. More than 200 Hindu priests and Buddhist lamas attended the event.
Balendra Shah has also formed a new cabinet, which includes 14 ministers. The Minister of Finance is Swarnim Wagle, an economist with an education from Harvard.
