The Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Collective Security Treaty Organization expressed its position regarding the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, particularly concerning the Islamic Republic of Iran.

In the statement, serious concern is noted regarding military actions directed against Iran and the worsening situation in the region.

“We call on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid actions that could worsen the situation. The use of force is unacceptable, and we insist on resolving conflicts peacefully through dialogue, mutual respect, and consideration of the interests of all parties in accordance with international norms and the UN Charter,” the document states.

The Assembly also appeals to the United Nations and the Security Council to take urgent measures to prevent threats to international peace and security.

Particular attention is paid to the importance of protecting the sovereignty, security, and territorial integrity of Iran. Support and solidarity with the Iranian people and their government are expressed.

The statement also conveys sincere condolences to the families of those who lost their lives as a result of the conflicts.

The document emphasizes the acute rise in tensions in the region, which creates serious risks for international peace and security. It is underscored that the use of force and threats against sovereign states is unacceptable.

On February 28, the United States and Israel began joint military actions against Iran. As a result of airstrikes, facilities of the Iranian oil and gas infrastructure were destroyed, and high-ranking representatives of the Iranian leadership, including Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, were killed. In response, Iran began attacking targets across the Middle East.
