Serious changes are being prepared in the education sector of Kyrgyzstan regarding teacher training. This has become necessary due to alarming research data showing that 32% of students face bullying. To address this issue, a draft resolution has been presented that significantly alters the approaches to training future educators in universities.
The project, initiated by the relevant authorities, proposes updating training directions in universities in light of the transition to 12-year education. The main focus will be on psychological-pedagogical education and special pedagogy. This will enable educational institutions to prepare qualified tutors and defectologists, who are critically needed for creating an inclusive environment and providing psychological support to students.
Changes will also affect digital technologies. The profile of computer science is intended to be designated as a separate specialty, which will allow new teachers to instruct students in programming and the basics of working with artificial intelligence. Additionally, new courses on management in education and andragogy are planned to be introduced in the master's program. As the initiators assure, the implementation of these innovations will not require additional budget funds, but will allow aligning the qualifications of educators with the current demands of the labor market and the new standards of the Ministry of Education.
