On March 17, the Chairman of the State Tax Service, Alambet Shykmatov, provided comments in an interview with "Azattyk" regarding the alleged corruption schemes involving former head of the State National Security Committee (GKNB) Kamchybek Tashiev and his relatives.
In response to a question about why the Tax Service did not conduct an investigation into corruption schemes while Tashiev was in office, Shykmatov explained:
“It is no secret that 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' was under the full control of the GKNB. It is known that some of our employees found themselves in difficult circumstances due to pressure from the GKNB and are currently in custody. It was impossible to conduct an investigation into 'Kyrgyzneftegaz'. Now that the conditions have changed, we were able to carry out an investigation. We had a choice: either to hide this or to make everything known. We preferred the first option,” noted Shykmatov.
On March 16, the Tax Service released a video investigation titled "Oil for Themselves: How 'Kyrgyzneftegaz' Was Ruined?", which revealed violations in the activities of this enterprise in the field of oil extraction and sales, contrary to the interests of the state. The accompanying text to the video mentions that family members and close relatives of Kamchybek Tashiev are involved in the corruption schemes in this area.
On February 10, President Sadyr Japarov relieved Kamchybek Tashiev of his duties as Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and head of the State National Security Committee.
