The President of Kyrgyzstan urged deputies to work with the government in harmony.
“Mistakes and shortcomings in draft laws occur. Your task is to correct them. You are the Jogorku Kenesh, and you have the authority to do so. For example, recently I saw Deputy Dastan Bekeshev speaking against one law and removing one clause from it. I inquired at the Ministry of Internal Affairs about what happened, and they explained that the law was generally good, and there may have been a misunderstanding,” the president noted.
Sadyr Japarov added that it is important to discuss contentious issues in advance. “I suggested inviting the deputy or coming to parliament ourselves for discussion. As a result, Bekeshev was invited to ‘Yntymak Ordo’, and after an hour of conversation, he himself proposed an amendment for the second reading. Therefore, it is better to engage in dialogue than to simply express dissatisfaction from the podium,” he said.
The president also emphasized the importance of thoroughly studying issues when it comes to reforms. “Reform is a complex process. I have been dealing with this for five years. Every time a reform begins, protests, cries, and social media posts arise. People think that the authorities are doing something wrong,” he added.
“In fact, this is often related to the interests of certain groups that may lose their income. These are those who are involved in corruption and have held their positions for a long time,” the head of state concluded.
