It was proposed to legally enshrine the concept of Deaflympic sports in the Kyrgyz Republic.
The main objective of these changes is to create more favorable conditions for the development of inclusive sports in the country.
Urmat Asanbaev emphasized that the focus of the proposed amendments is on supporting deaflympic sports. These changes are aimed at assisting athletes with hearing impairments who achieve significant success in international competitions.
The draft law includes definitions of key concepts related to deaflympic sports, as well as proposes a system of one-time monetary rewards for athletes and their coaches for achievements at the Deaflympic Games.
As noted by the agency head, the Kyrgyzstan national team has been participating in the Deaflympic Games since 2019. In 2022, our team won a gold medal at the competitions in Brazil. At the 2024 Asia-Pacific Games, Kyrgyz athletes won 18 medals and took sixth place in the team standings.
