The Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliyev, was able to resolve the misunderstanding that arose between deputies Mederbek Aliyev and Ulukbek Karybek uulu. This was reported by the press service of the parliament.
He emphasized that the parliament should remain a platform for open discussions and diverse viewpoints when considering legislative proposals. The Speaker also noted the importance of adhering to parliamentary ethics and the norms of current legislation during such discussions.
The conflict between the deputies erupted on March 3 during a meeting of the relevant committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, where Mederbek Aliyev was presenting a legislative proposal aimed at tightening measures against drugs, including the advertisement of synthetic drugs and pharmacy drug addiction.
The problem arose when Ulukbek Karybek uulu pointed out deficiencies in the justification report for the legislative proposal. In response, Mederbek Aliyev urged his colleague "not to engage in populism" and "to leave blogging," to which Ulukbek Karybek uulu reminded him that he represents the interests of the people and has the same rights as the vice-speaker. The argument quickly escalated into mutual accusations of "seeking cheap points."
