The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Almaz Imangaziev, reported at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh that on March 5, the first 360 citizens of the country will be evacuated from the United Arab Emirates. The evacuation will be carried out through Oman with the help of two repatriation flights, one of which will depart at night, and the other in the morning.

Priority in the evacuation will be given to women, children, and the elderly. Preparatory work is currently underway to gather citizens, who will be transported to the departure points by buses.

Imangaziev emphasized that the most difficult situation is observed in the UAE, where about 10,000 Kyrgyz citizens are currently located. Of these, 1,200 people have already expressed a desire to return to their homeland. The others are residents of the Emirates and continue to live and work there.

Problems with the evacuation are related to the closure of airspace in several countries in the region. Bahrain, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Kuwait, and Iran have closed their skies to flights, while Oman and Syria have partial restrictions in place.

We remind you that there are more than 20,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in the Middle East, most of whom reside in Saudi Arabia and the UAE.
