Masoud Pezeshkian: Iran has a legitimate right to avenge Ali Khamenei

President of Iran Masoud Pezeshkian emphasized in an official statement that Tehran considers it its "inalienable duty and right" to avenge the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who was eliminated. This was reported by France 24.

The head of state noted that the loss of such an important political and religious figure as Khamenei is perceived as a declaration of war against all Muslims. Iran confirmed the information about his death on the night of February 28 to March 1, stating that he was killed as a result of an airstrike on his residence.

According to The Wall Street Journal, Israeli fighter jets dropped about 30 bombs on the target during the attack. The New York Times reports that the timing of the strike was not coincidental: U.S. intelligence (CIA) received information about a secret meeting involving the highest leadership of Iran and Khamenei himself.

At the moment, Iran is in mourning, and the functions of the Supreme Leader are temporarily being carried out by a collective governing body.
