Macron, Merz, and Starmer threatened Iran with military response

On March 2, 2026, the German government released a statement in which three European leaders expressed their readiness for military action in response to ongoing missile attacks by Iran on Middle Eastern countries.

The text emphasizes that the strikes by the Iranian armed forces are "indiscriminate and disproportionate," affecting even those countries that are not involved in the military operations of the U.S. and Israel against Tehran. The European leaders stated their intention to protect both their interests and those of their allies in the region.

In light of the escalating situation, France decided to relocate the aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle from the Baltic Sea, where it was participating in the "Orion" exercises, to the eastern Mediterranean, as reported by the French television company BFMTV.

According to information provided by the newspaper Le Figaro, the movement of about 60 vessels, either flying the French flag or owned by French companies, has been temporarily suspended in the Persian Gulf. These vessels passed through the Strait of Hormuz and were instructed by naval forces to stop their movement.

Iranian retaliatory measures against the actions of American and Israeli forces have affected ten countries in the region. Missile launches and drone attacks have been recorded in countries such as Bahrain, Jordan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Saudi Arabia, where American military facilities are located.
