The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic has made an official statement regarding the sharp escalation of the situation in the Middle Eastern region. The ministry expressed serious concern over the rising tensions and called on the international community to unite efforts for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
Kyrgyzstan emphasizes the importance of strict adherence to the UN Charter and norms of international law. Official Bishkek urges the parties to the conflict to exercise maximum restraint, to immediately cease hostilities, and to take necessary steps to restore constructive dialogue. The statement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlights that the resolution of the situation must occur exclusively through peaceful means.
The situation began to escalate on February 28, when the armed forces of the United States and Israel conducted a joint air operation in Tehran. As a result of a series of airstrikes, key figures of the Iranian leadership were eliminated: Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, Commander of the IRGC Mohammad Pakpour, and Secretary of the Defense Council Ali Shamkhani.
On the morning of March 1, Iranian state television confirmed the information about the deaths of its leaders, declaring a 40-day mourning period and seven days of public holidays in the country. Shortly thereafter, a temporary governing council was formed in Tehran under the leadership of President Masoud Pezeshkian, and the international community began to express concerns about the potential for large-scale destabilization in the region.
