Today, at a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva raised the question of whether there will be a "political thaw" regarding a number of initiated criminal cases.

She noted that after recent significant political events, she received numerous complaints about illegal seizure of property and threats that forced people to withdraw from participating in elections.

“I was also approached by the mother of the arrested former mayor of Tokmok, who is involved in the case of embezzling 1 billion soms. She expressed concern that they are not being provided with information about the progress of the case. Relatives suspect that the case has a political undertone, claiming that other individuals who steal billions remain free, while they do not have such protection. It is very unpleasant to hear this. I am addressing the General Prosecutor's Office with a question about the possibility of reviewing a number of political cases,” she stated.

Deputy General Prosecutor Umutkan Konkurbayeva responded that the review of cases can only be carried out upon request to the Prosecutor General's Office. “We do not have the right to simply review all previously initiated cases,” she added, noting that she would provide information on the case of the former mayor of Tokmok directly to the deputy.

It should be reminded that on November 6, 2025, the Oktyabrsky District Court issued a verdict in the criminal case against former Tokmok mayor Maksat Nusuvaliyev and other officials. By the court's decision, Nusuvaliyev was found guilty under Article 336, Part 2 "Corruption" of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan and sentenced to 13 years of imprisonment in a general regime colony, as well as confiscation of property.
