
A resolution dedicated to the anniversary of the start of the conflict in Ukraine has been adopted
At the UN General Assembly, timed to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the start of military actions in Ukraine, a resolution supporting peace initiatives was adopted. This was reported by the UN.
170 countries participated in the voting: 107 expressed support for the resolution, 12 voted against, while 51 countries, including Kyrgyzstan, the USA, and China, chose to abstain.
The document emphasizes the importance of independence, sovereignty, and territorial integrity of Ukraine. The United States presented its own proposals; however, Canada, the European Union, and Ukraine preferred not to hold a vote on their draft.
Countries from Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia, South Korea, as well as states from Latin America and Africa supported the resolution.
Among the 12 countries that voted against were Russia, Belarus, Syria, North Korea, Eritrea, and Iran.
The abstaining countries include Kyrgyzstan, the USA, China, India, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, Singapore, Slovakia, and others.
